Idaho VII

Inside the City Hall in Nampa is this replica of the Liberty Bell.

The day I visited I was unable to find anyone who could tell me about the memorial. Today, I was able to contact the City Clerk who assured me that all from the State of Idaho were honored here.Inscribed beneath it are the names of the 216 from Idaho who were lost in Vietnam.

The City Hall is located at the intersection of 3rd Street and 5th Avenue and outside the building is a Peace Garden mentioned earlier on this site.

Next time, on the 20th, we will return to Louisiana, so join me there, as always, a 9:00am

Idaho VI

Very little information is to be found about this memorial. Called Veterans Peace Memorial Park, it stands just outside the Nampa, Idaho City Hall near the corner of 3rd Street south and Fifth Avenue South.

The memorial consists of a large rendition of the Ten Commandments next to a huge, unmarked rock.
Note the symbolic eternal flame near on the pole towards the right side of the picture..

This plaque is found on the site dedicated to those lost from Korea and Vietnam.

The Virtual Wall page lists 6 from the area as having been lost, but this stone, as you can see, lists seven.

Inside the lobby of the City Hall is another tribute to our brothers and sisters from Idaho, but I will leave that for another day.

Next time, on the 28th, we return to Illinois, so join me there, as always, at 9:00am.
